FLAVOURS OF LOVE

THAI VALENTINES TRADITIONS

This Valentines is particularly special, as Thailand recently became one of the first South Asian countries to legalise same-sex marriage. This pivotal move provides couples with the same rights as other couples, making this year's romantic celebration even more exciting!

In Thailand, Valentines is filled with unique traditions, heartfelt gestures, and, of course, delicious food. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner out or a cosy night in, let us take you on a journey through Thailand’s customs.

BURSTS OF COLOUR

Thailand is known for embracing colour in every way possible, and Valentines is no exception to this rule. The streets are filled with bright decorations and pink/ red hearts cover the buildings.

Popular markets come to life too! For example, the Pak Khlong Talat market, where tourists can buy a variety of Valentines gifts, including custom floral arrangements.

VISIT THE 'SHRINE OF LOVE'

Couples visit temples on Valentine’s Day to seek blessings for lasting love. One of the most famous spots is Trimurti Shrine in Bangkok, where people pray for romance and good fortune in their relationships. Embrace this tradition with a small moment of gratitude and set the tone for a beautiful evening ahead.

HIGH SCHOOL TRADITIONS

Thai high school students have a fun and colourful way of celebrating Valentine’s Day as they cover each other in heart-shaped stickers. Students cover their uniforms with as many stickers as possible to show just how loved they are.

WEDDING CEREMONIES

Thousands of couples register their marriage on Valentine’s Day in Thailand. One of the most famous places for couples to go is Bang Rak district in Bangkok, which translates to 'District of Love'. Some adventurous couples even participate in wedding ceremonies for a truly unforgettable experience.

Although we can't whisk you away to experience these traditions first hand, we can provide an unforgettable experience for you and your special someone this Valentines.
